Metatarsalgia
Indication
This is a general term given to pain in the region of the metatarsals (ball of the foot area). There can be a number of causes for such pain and a careful and thorough examination with specific studies such as MRI scanning and gait and weight bearing analysis maybe required in diagnosing and subsequently treating such a condition.
Where there is no surgically treatable cause for this condition, gait and weight bearing analysis may lead to the use of appropriate orthoses in the management of pain in the metatarsal area.
